About Joe Sciabbarrasi, M.D.
Dr. Joseph Sciabbarrasi is a leading physician in the field of bioidentical and anti-aging medicine. His integrative and holistic practice combines both conventional and alternative approaches to optimal health. His exceptional training and practice arises from 30 years of practicing cutting edge medicine.
His practice encompasses Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy, nutritional biochemistry, intravenous vitamin and mineral therapies, acupuncture, herbal medicine, homeopathy, Shamanic healing, meditation and spiritual training. Dr. Sciabbarrasi is as comfortable in designing a program of healing as he is discussing medical issues with colleagues in cardiology, internal medicine or oncology.
Within the conventional sphere of training, Dr. Sciabbarrasi is a graduate of Georgetown University where he attained a Bachelor’s of Science in Biology. This was followed by a Master’s degree in Microbiology from George Washington University, where he also graduated from the School of Medicine. He is also Board Certified in Emergency Medicine which he practiced for twelve years.
His extensive training in traditional and alternative medicine has been with the American College for Advancement in Medicine, UCLA, USC, the American Academy of Medical Acupuncture, the American Board of Chelation Therapy and the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine.
His training has included work with such luminaries as Dr. Jean Houston, Dr. Milton Erikson, Dr. Anita Cignolini and Dr. Rosalyn Bruyere as well as the study of indigenous healing practices around the world. Dr. Sciabbarrasi also holds a graduate Diploma from the intensive four year training program with the Hahnemann College of Homeopathy.
Dr. Sciabbarrasi helped pioneer and co-direct the development of the first extensive alternative medicine presentations and coursework ever offered at a U.S. medical school at George Washington University while a student there. He co-founded and chaired the Biomedical Ethics and Bereavement Support Committee at Centinela Hospital Medical Center while an Emergency physician and developed a Resource Directory to help those with cancer and AIDS. He also founded the Peer Support Physicians group at Centinela Hospital and served on the Board of Directors for the Healing Light Center and the South Bay Hospice.
Dr. Sciabbarrasi has been guest faculty and clinical preceptor for the UCLA and USC programs for medical students in alternative medicine. He has had guest appearances on The Doctors for Integrative Medical topics as well as on Los Angeles television news for alternative medicine, the Discovery Television Network, KIEV Radio, and KCOP TV in Los Angeles. He is referenced in three best-selling books by Suzanne Somers: Ageless, Breakthrough and Knockout.
He has had numerous local and national interviews on alternative medicine including The Michael Jackson Radio Show and health and beauty magazines including Fitness, Shape, The Journal of Longevity and Ms. Fitness. Dr. Sciabbarrasi’s work has been published internationally in the Tokyo based journal, Diet and Beauty and he has lectured and presented workshops to physicians and health professionals on Integrative approaches at local, state and national levels.
He has also been an invited speaker throughout Los Angeles including the first Women’s Day Journey to Wellness Conference, Centinela Hospital Medical Center, the Southern California Chapter for Chronic Fatigue, the Wellness Community and the Annual Cancer Conference at Torrance Memorial Hospital. He has co-authored 2 published articles listed in PubMed on Neurological disease research while at the National Institutes of Health and is the author of Radiant Health: The cutting edge guide to regaining physical, emotional and sexual vitality.
Dr. Sciabbarrasi has trained in Isshinryu karate, attaining the second degree of black belt in this discipline and studied classical and popular piano for many years.
He is blessed with the lights of his life, his beautiful wife Kathleen, who is a writer-actor, and their awesome student – athlete son, Kieran.
